New Iceland Series online!

Hi there,

last year in November I went to Iceland. Actually for the third time, because I’m in love with the country, culture and people.

This time though, I mostly went through the western part of the country: The Snæfellsnes peninsula. I can only recommend visiting this beautiful place as it’s really a concentrated version of Iceland. The National park is stunning with it’s mountains (e.g. “Snæfellsjökull”), the rough oceanside cliffs, lighthouses in the middle of nowhere, empty roads, vast valleys, the famous black Búðir church, etc. Plenty to see and get overwhelmed by.

Even though I went there in November, the weather was amazing! Sunshine all day. I really didn’t expect that. I chose a small AirBnB in Ólafsvík for my stay and strolled around the peninsula for 3 days. Unfortunately, too little time to really explore “everything”.

In my small series I tried to show the diversity of this place, even though there is much more to see and explore here. I will definitely go there again and I’m already very much looking forward to it.

Feel free to share your thoughts and feedback regarding the photos. Much appreciated!

Our Canada travel video is online!

Long time no read!

Back in May 2018, Benni (IG: @fratzenkutter, Twitter: @quarkophag) and I travelled to Canada for about a month and you can now see our (very informative!) documentation in video-form on Youtube!

We went on a road trip for about 6500km throughout the western part of the country (British Columbia, Vancouver, Vancouver Island, Victoria, Tofino, Prince Rupert, Hazelton, Alberta, Jasper, Banff, Calgary and many more) and also managed to go to the US (Seattle) for a few days. It was a beautiful and great trip and I’m still amazed by the beauty of Canada and its landscape. We went surfing, on a speed boat tour, took a bath in hot springs, saw some bears of course, enjoyed great food, took a walk through a rainforest, saw mountains, lakes, glaciers and wildlife,  had some really great AirBNBs and hosts in lovely cities and towns and even the weather was great (30°C max).

If you want to see two very organized German guys on a very weird, but great adventure and you don’t mind some stupid humour I can only recommend to watch the video!

Would be great if you can share some feedback and thoughts in the comments!

Of course I also took some photos during the trip. Haven’t uploaded them yet to the site, but you can find some already on instagram (@tidephoto_com):

This and that and concerts

Hello interwebs, how is it going? Good? Great! So, I thought about this for kind of a long time and finally decided to start a blog (because who doesn’t, right?) and add some stories to my photos as well as maybe publish some other stuff (not sure what, but we’ll see). No concept, no pressure.

So what happened recently? Well, apart from shooting landscapes, I started also to get into concert photography. I love music, I love live gigs, I love photography. So, why not give it a try? My good friend Tim gave me the opportunity to go to some concerts with him. He is writing for www.testspiel.de (great page if you’re into music, art, design and the nonsense of the internet in general), so I was able to just go for it. And what can I say? It’s great! As I’m used to shoot not moving landscapes and be outside, concerts are a whole different thing. It’s dark, it’s loud, it’s sweaty, it’s energetic, it’s just awesome! As I’m kind of a shy and introverted guy, I still need to get used to it and develop some kind of flow. I hope I’m getting there!

I’ve already published some of the photos in a separate gallery. Check them out and tell me what you think! I’m at the very beginning and every kind of feedback (especially constructive) would be highly appreciated.

So, which concerts did I go to so far? Three in total! Wow, right?

More will definitely follow soon! I will also try to keep it as diverse as possible and not stick to a certain genre. This should help me to get into this field of photography and hey, I’m open to everything when it comes to music and I’m always up to new kind of genres (except for German Schlager… it’s the worst, really).

What else? I’m currently trying to plan a trip to Canada and hope to go there mid of May. Ever since I saw photos of this beautiful country I’m in love with it’s raw nature and landscapes. I’m really looking forward to seeing it with my own eyes! Fingers crossed that everything will work out as planned. Have you ever been there? If you have some advices, let me know!

Other than that, I’ve also created some new instagram accounts. One is for all the concert stuff, the other one is more for daily nonsense which doesn’t fit anywhere else. On this account, I will just share some pics I took with my phone. Let’s see how it turns out. Like, share, follow if you want!

I think that’s all for now. Still need to get used to write stuff and share my thoughts with you and I hope that there is a bit of interest out there for this kind of thing. Sorry for the mess, thanks for your support and feedback. Take care!
